Plattsburgh State Athletics

Matt Lein begins his third season as the head women's volleyball coach at Plattsburgh State in 2020.

Lein has picked up 16 wins in his first two years at the helm of the Plattsburgh State women's volleyball program, mentoring one All-State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) honoree in 2019 while coming within a set of winning the Best Western Plus-Ground Round Cardinal Classic title in 2018.

He spent the 2017 season coaching the women’s volleyball club team at Siena College. Prior to Siena, he served as an assistant coach at Plattsburgh State, helping the Cardinals improve eight wins from 2014 to 2016 and mentor an All-SUNYAC student-athlete.

Lein got his start in college coaching as an undergraduate student at NCAA Division II Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. He worked as a student assistant all four years in college before taking over as an assistant coach in 2013.

Lein earned his Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Nova Southeastern in 2013 and his Master of Science in mental health counseling from Nova Southeastern in 2017.
