Andrew Krug '10

Plattsburgh State alumnus Andrew Krug enters his 14th season with the Cardinal men's and women's cross-country teams in 2025.

Under Krug's direction for 10 years as head coach, two runners qualified for the NCAA Division III National Cross Country Championships: Lauren Perschetz in 2016 and Kelley Driscoll in 2012 and 2013 (Driscoll also qualified in 2011 prior to Krug's appointment as head coach).

During the 2024 season, Krug assisted with men's and women's cross country, helping them both to fifth-place finishes at SUNYACs.

As the assistant coach during the 2023 season, Krug helped the teams see improvement in the SUNYAC Championships as the women placed fourth and the men placed fifth. The team also saw improvements in Division III Mideast Region Championships as each team moved up three places.

In 2022, Krug moved over to the head coach for men's and women's track and field and assisted with men's and women's cross country, helping them to sixth-place finishes.

In 2021, Krug coached the women's cross country team to a third-place finish at the SUNYAC Championship Meet. The men moved up in the SUNYACs as well with a seventh-place finish after coming in eighth their last season, the team competed in during the 2019 season.

In 2019, Jazz Roberts enjoyed a strong season, earning three PrestoSports State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week honors. Among Roberts' many elite performances during the year, perhaps her best result was a second-place finish in a 220-runner field at the Ronald C. Hoffmann Invitational, as she clocked a six-kilometer time of 22:37.0.

Krug helped coach several runners to career years in 2018, including junior Kristina Watrobski, who earned All-SUNYAC honors at the conference meet.

In 2017, Krug coached the women's team to a second place finish at the SUNYAC Championship Meet, their first time in that spot since 2011. The men moved up in the SUNYAC as well with a sixth place finish. Krug also developed freshman Jazz Roberts into the SUNYAC Rookie of the Year.

In 2014, Krug oversaw the development of NCAA All-Atlantic Region performer Nathan Doyle on the men's side and prepped All-SUNYAC Second Team and NCAA All-Atlantic Region senior Katie Ehmann who led the Cardinals' women's squad in her final collegiate campaign.

During the Cardinals' 2013 campaign, Krug guided senior Kelley Driscoll to one of the best individual seasons on the trails in program history. Driscoll, who hails from Geneva, N.Y., racked up All-SUNYAC First Team and All-NCAA Atlantic Region accolades for the third time in her career before earning an individual bid to the 2013 NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country Championships.

While supervising the throwers for the Cardinals' track and field program, Krug led the development of Amanda Gadway who is the owner of three program records and owns a pair of All-SUNYAC First Team nods.

Krug guided the Plattsburgh State women's cross country to a second consecutive runner-up finish at the SUNYAC Cross Country Championships in 2012. Driscoll, who was named to the SUNYAC Cross Country Hall of Fame before securing her second consecutive All-NCAA Atlantic Region honor, was the lynchpin of Krug's 2012 squad.

A four-year member of the Cardinals' track and field team from 2005-09, specializing in jumps, Krug graduated from Plattsburgh in December 2010 with a master’s degree in adolescent education and a concentration in history. He also completed a minor in athletic coaching.

During the 2007-08 and 2008-09 seasons, Krug qualified for both the indoor and outdoor Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Championships in the high jump. He placed third in the high jump at the SUNYAC Indoor Track and Field Championships in 2008 and 2009, as well as at the 2008 outdoor conference meet.

Krug hit a personal best height of 6-5 (1.96m) outdoors at the Icahn Stadium in New York City in 2006. He has USA Track & Field (USATF) Level I Coaching Certification as well as a USATAF Level II Coaching Certification in throws.
