Biography
2013-14 (Senior): Shook off the trials and tribulations of his junior campaign to regain a spot as one of the go-to stars for the Cardinals during his final season sporting red and white... no other Plattsburgh State player - and few in the SUNYAC - possessed a more accurate shooting touch... sunk a team-best 54.1-percent of his field goals - a mark that was bettered by just four other SUNYAC student-athletes... stood at the head of the Plattsburgh State line in terms of scoring, pumping in 14 points per game which turned out to be the 15th-highest average in the SUNYAC... owned the second-highest rebounding average (six per game) among the Cardinals... sprung into action off the bench during the first five games of the season and averaged 14.8 points per game before receiving a spot in the starting lineup for 20 of the next 21 engagements... hauled in a SUNYAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week citation on Feb. 3, after averaging 17 points and 9.5 rebounds in a two-game stretch... saved his most potent performance of the season for his final Memorial Hall tilt when he tallied a season-best 26 points on 10-of-14 (.714 percent) shooting in a win over SUNYAC foe Buffalo State (2/22)... procured All-SUNYAC Second Team honors - the first all-conference accolade of his career.
2012-13 (Junior): Took a step back from a highly productive sophomore season, largely due to an influx of talent on the Cardinals' roster... engaged in basketball warfare during 28 of the 29 assignments while receiving a pair of starts as well... ran down a season-high six rebounds on two occasions, the last of which came against SUNY Cortland (2/23)... saw his most productive outing come during the final engagement of the season when he netted a season-high 13 points on 4-of-9 shooting against eventual national champion Amherst in the second round of the NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Tournament (3/9).
2011-12 (Sophomore): Started 22 games as the Cardinals leading-scorer...scored 352 points, averaging 13.5 per game...scored a career-high 27 points against New Paltz (Dec. 6) after going 11-18 from the field...shot .498 from the field on the season and .400 from outside the arc...80 of his 117 rebounds came on the defensive glass.
2010-11 (Freshman): Appeared in 26 games … Made collegiate at Lyndon State and scored five points (Nov. 15) … Led all Cardinal freshmen in scoring with 103 points … Had a career-high 16 points against Oswego (Feb. 11) … Had a career-high eight rebounds at Cortland (Jan. 14).
High School: Four-year letterman at Bishop Maginn in Albany.
Personal: Born Shavar D. Fields on Nov. 11, 1991 in Poughkeepsie, N.Y....parents are Anthony and Alice... is majoring in criminal justice at Plattsburgh State.
