Biography
2014-15 (Senior): SUNYAC Championship Tournament All-Tournament Team... Stepped onto center stage as the Cardinals' floor general and didn't disappoint during his last collegiate hurrah...played in 26 of the Cardinals' 27 games and was in the starting lineup for each of them... distinguished himself as a top-tier SUNYAC point guard by leading the team as well as the league in assists (132), assists per game (5.1) and assist-to-turnover ratio (2.0)... closed out 2014 by establishing a new career high in scoring when he amassed 22 points in a road victory at Keene State (12/31)... dished out a career-best 12 assists in a conference road triumph at SUNY Cortland (2/13)... saved two of his double-digit scoring performances for the last three games of the Cardinals' season which included a team-high 15 markers in a SUNYAC Championship Tournament Finals setback to Oswego State (2/28).
2013-14 (Junior): Celebrated his inaugural season as an upperclassman by submitting the best statistical season of his post-secondary basketball career... appeared exclusively off the bench in all but two of the Cardinals' 30 confrontations... caught fire in his second conference tilt of the season by pouring in a career-best 20 points - including a career-high six three-pointers - to lead Plattsburgh State to a road triumph at SUNY Cortland (12/7)... fired in at least 10 points on six occasions... no Cardinal possessed a more accurate eye from three-point range... canned 44.3 percent of his long-range attempts... averaged a career high 5.3 points per game on 46.4 percent shooting - another career best... ripped down a personal best five rebounds in a home victory over Keene State (12/3).
2012-13 (Sophomore): Took a back seat to All-SUNYAC performer Chris Manning in the Plattsburgh State backcourt, but didn't let that stunt his collegiate basketball growth... utilized primarily off the bench and was one of three sophomores who took part in all 29 engagements... received two of his three starting assignments in back-to-back games to begin the season... saw his only double-digit scoring performance come against Oneonta State, but those 14 markers reset a career-high and helped the Cardinals to a victory (1/19)... hit all three of his field goals, including a pair behind the arc during the SUNYAC tilt... racked up the second-most assists among the Plattsburgh State ranks and was the third-most accurate free throw shooter on the squad (.736)... equalled a career-best by passing out six assists at Keene State and by the time the final horn had sounded, recorded a career-high four steals (12/4).
2011-12 (Freshman): Appeared 26 times for the Cardinals as a backup point guard...second on the team with 42 assists...was 26-for-36 from the free throw line...notched 12 points and six assists against Geneseo (Dec. 19).
High School: Won four varsity letters playing basketball under Dan Murray and one for soccer … as a soccer player was honorable mention for all-state … as a basketball player was second team all-state junior and senior year … … junior and senior year in basketball team went 23-1 and 24-0 … averaged 12 points and nine assists per game … won several championships on his AAU team including the Boston Springfest.
Personal: Born Mike James Mitchell on Aug. 30, 1993 in Gary, Ind. … son of Michael and Jenna Mitchell ... enjoys basketball and other sports, music, working out, and being with his family … favorite player is Steve Nash... is majoring in public relations at Plattsburgh State.
