Travis Rice

Travis Rice begins his first year as the Men's Basketball Assistant Coach at Plattsburgh State in 2023-24.

In his first year as Assistant Coach, Rice assisted with player development, scouting, and team operations. Rice's assistance with player development and scouting helped the Cardinals see improvements on the offensive and defensive ends. The team saw an increase in its points per game and a decrease in its opponents' points per game.

Rice has been coaching several teams over the last four years in Springfield, Massachusetts, working with AAU and high school teams alike. At Duggan Academy, Rice worked as the head coach of the boys' varsity basketball team, where he coordinated and oversaw team activities and practices. In his time there, he reviewed and edited game tapes, helping himself to understand game strategies and plan approaches for future games.

On the AAU side, Rice was the head coach of Expressions Elite and the Springfield Ballers. For the Expressions Elite, he took the teams to compete in Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL) tournaments and also focused on player development to further the basketball skills of the players he coached. Working with the Springfield Ballers, Rice created and hosted youth basketball clinics developing player skills, as well as assisting with marketing for the team on their social media platforms.

Rice earned his Bachelor of Arts in Business Management from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in 2017, where he was a member of the men's basketball team from 2013-2017, playing in 34 games over his career.
