Plattsburgh State Athletics

2014 (Freshman): Split time with a couple of other first-year performers at second base for the Cardinals... took part in 24 of the Cardinals' bouts and made 10 appearances in the starting lineup... made his Plattsburgh State debut - as well as his first-ever start - in a non-conference battle at St. Joseph's (N.Y.) (3/8)... registered his first college hit - a single - in the a non-conference win over Dubuque (3/19)... conjured up his first RBI - which turned out to be the eventual game-winner - in a SUNYAC battle with Fredonia State (3/20)... capped off a three-game hit streak with a single against Fredonia State in game two of a doubleheader (3/20)... picked up his only other RBI of the season with by drawing a bases-loaded walk in an 11-1 triumph over Oneonta State (4/5)... amassed 28 putouts, including a career-high five against Fredonia State (3/20). 

Prior to Plattsburgh State: Attended the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Va., and did not participate in athletics. 

High School: Picked up a pair of varsity letters while stationed in the infield for Chaminade High School... took up defensive residence at second base during his final prep season... assisted his team in capturing the Catholic League championship in 2011... also participated in wrestling for two seasons. 

Personal: Born Zachary William Hieb on September 6, 1994 in Brooklyn, N.Y. ... son of Kenny and Virginia Hieb... enjoys playing chess, reading, writing music and playing the saxophone... plans to major in economics at Plattsburgh State.
