Plattsburgh State Athletics

2013 (Junior): Took to his new collegiate digs nicely and suited up as the Cardinals' backstop for 29 engagements... made 22 appearances in the starting lineup... constructed a batting average of .254... had 17 hits - all of which were singles... posted a .991 fielding percentage which was second-best among the Plattsburgh State regulars.  

Prior to Plattsburgh State: Suited up for two seasons at Mercy College, an NCAA Division II institution... emerged as a viable backstop for Mercy, compiling a .965 fielding percentage during his two seasons... cobbled together a batting average of .171 (20-for-117) while drawing 28 walks.

High School: Played three years of varsity baseball at Valley Central High School... earned a spot on the All-Conference Third Team at the conclusion of the 2008 season... also competed on the varsity football squad for a pair of seasons as well as four years of track and field.

Personal: Born Johnathan Robert Casten on November 17, 1992, in Newburgh, N.Y. ... son of Philip and Maria Casten... enjoys playing baseball, football, lifting weights and listening to music... majoring in business administration at Plattsburgh State.
