Plattsburgh State Athletics

2012 (Junior): Served as the teams starting catcher, starting 33 times....recorded 15 RBI, 32 hits and 15 runs...led the team in putouts with 147and also delivered 34 assists ... member of the SUNYAC commissioner's list and all-academic team.

2011 (Sophomore): Appeared in 25 games, started in 19 … Batted .211, collected 15 hits while picking up 11 RBI and scoring four runs … Had two-hit games against Millikin (March 14), Utica (March 15), Fredonia (April 9) and Canton  (May 7) … Received SUNYAC All-Academic honors and was named to the Commissioner’s List.

2010 (Freshman): Made his college debut in the Cardinals' March 4 debut versus Manchester, getting a pinch-hit  single...during the off-season following his first year at Plattsburgh, he made second-team All-River Valley League as a designated hitter for a summer team based in Iowa...also selected to the league's All-Star Game.

High School:  Four-year letterman under baseball coach Greg Stokes at Lamoille Union...two-time All-Capital Division First Team...starting all-state catcher...club team was Champlain Edge, who were champions of the Ottawa baseball tournament and the Summer Showdown...also played basketball (3 letters) and soccer (2)...member of a USA Select baseball team that traveled to Amsterdam, Holland, to participate in the 2006 International Friendship Games, where they won a bronze medal...National Honor Society inductee...high honor roll student...Presidential Award for scholastic achievement.

Personal:  Born Casey Newsom Brighton on Dec. 1, 1990 in Bloomington, Ind....likes duck hunting...son of Ken Brighton and Maryanne Newsom-Brighton.
