2009-10 (Junior Year at Plattsburgh): Received Division III News All-America accolades as an honorable mention pick...consensus all-region selection by National Association of Basketball Coaches (1st team), Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III Upstate (2nd team) and D3hoops.com (2nd team)...led SUNYAC in scoring as a first-team all-conference choice...also ranked third in conference 3-pointers, ninth in 3-point field goal percentage and 10th in free throw percentage...started in all 29 games... 

2008-09 (Sophomore Year at Plattsburgh): Earned All-SUNYAC First Team honors...started 23 of 24 games played...topped the team with 18.2 points per game and 48 steals...led the team in scoring and steals during 15 games...posted a single-game school record of 41 points against Brockport (12/5)…twice named SUNYAC Player of the Week on Dec. 1 and 8.

2007-08 (Freshman Year at Plattsburgh): Appeared in all 30 games while making an immediate impact in his first season with the Cardinals...fifth on the team with 201 points, averaging 6.7 a contest.

HIGH SCHOOL: Earned four letters in basketball under Coach Greg Dolan at St. Agnes...team MVP during junior and senior years...named second-team All-Manhattan by New York Daily News as a senior.

PERSONAL: Born on July 25, 1989 in Washington Heights, N.Y....parents are Juan Ruiz and Ann Mota...uncle, Armando Mota, played Major League Baseball for the Philadelphia Phillies...economics major and coaching minor.
