PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – Casella Waste Systems, Inc. has partnered with Plattsburgh State as the official game-day sponsor for Cardinal women's ice hockey, men's basketball and women's basketball in 2026-27, as announced Wednesday by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation.
 
Thanks to Casella, admission to all regular-season Plattsburgh State women's ice hockey, men's basketball and women's basketball games will be free for the entirety of the 2026-27 season.

"Supporting free admission to women's hockey and basketball helps create welcoming spaces where students, families, and fans can come together and share in the excitement of Cardinal Athletics."
 
"We are extremely excited to announce this partnership and are very appreciative to Casella for making this commitment to Cardinal Athletics and our women's hockey program," Plattsburgh State Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation Mike Howard said. "This game-day sponsorship will open the doors for fans of all ages to enjoy watching our national caliber women's hockey team and is a tremendous tribute to the ongoing success of this program. The timing of this sponsorship could not come at a better time as we look to celebrate the sport of women's ice hockey at an unprecedented level in the year ahead. In addition to hosting the NCAA Division III Women's Ice Hockey Championship in March, we will also be recognizing the 25th anniversary of women's hockey here in Cardinal Country throughout the season and welcoming two national champion teams as teams of distinction into our athletic Hall of Fame in early November. And, of course, we remain excited to have Casella continue as our official game-day sponsor for our basketball teams."  
 
This represents just the latest chapter in a deep partnership between Casella and Cardinal Athletics. In addition to Casella-branded signage around Plattsburgh State's athletics facilities, Casella has served as the sponsor of men's ice hockey's annual Teddy Bear Toss, provided 2,000 branded stress balls for men's ice hockey's annual Stress Ball Night for its rivalry game against Oswego State and sponsored numerous other promotions across several sports that help enhance the fan experience.
