MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State women's lacrosse team traveled to Morrisville on Friday evening, falling 21-14 in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) contest at Drake Field. Sophomore attacker
Ashley O'Hara (Chittenango, N.Y. / The Hill School) led the Cardinals with a team-high five points on two goals and three assists while also controlling a team-high seven draws.
Ellie Macdonald (Burlington, Vt. / Burlington) and
Cynthia Barnosky (Shirley, N.Y. / William Floyd) each recorded four points, with Macdonald scoring four goals and Barnosky adding three goals and an assist, surpassing 100 career goals. Senior attacker

Leah Klotz (Highland, N.Y. / Highland) each added two goals. Defensively, senior midfielder

For the Mustangs, Anyssia Ingersoll led all players with a game-high eight points on eight goals while also controlling a game-high 15 draws. Deli Vega-Haley and Mary Trowbridge each recorded six points, as Vega-Haley scored five goals with an assist and Trowbridge tallied four goals and two assists. Aniyah Smith made five saves in the win for Morrisville.
Both teams finished tied in draw controls at 18-18, while Morrisville held advantages in shots (37-30) and ground balls (28-24). The Cardinals converted one of five free-position opportunities, while the Mustangs went a perfect 4-for-4. Plattsburgh finished 12-for-20 on clears, and Morrisville went 11-for-19.
Plattsburgh struck first as Dickinson finished a feed from O'Hara to take an early 1-0 lead at 13:36. Despite the early momentum, Morrisville responded with three straight goals to take a 3-1 lead at 5:02. Macdonald broke up the run, but another Morrisville stretch extended the Mustangs' lead to 6-2 with 2:48 remaining. The Cardinals ended the quarter on back-to-back goals from O'Hara and Macdonald, cutting the deficit to 6-4 going into the second.
The Cardinals picked up where they left off in the second quarter, scoring three consecutive goals to take a 7-6 lead with 10:49 to play. Morrisville briefly tied it at 7-7 before Barnosky put Plattsburgh back ahead at 9:26 to make it 8-7. Unfortunately, Morrisville's offense picked up again, going on a multi-goal run to build a 12-8 lead heading into halftime.
Out of the break, Plattsburgh's offense came out strong, scoring two consecutive goals to cut the deficit to 12-10 with 12:09 remaining. However, the Mustangs answered with three straight goals, extending their lead to 15-10 heading into the final quarter.
In the fourth, Morrisville opened the scoring before the Cardinals responded with goals from Barnosky and Macdonald to make it 16-12. The two teams traded goals, bringing the score to 18-14 in favor of the Mustangs. That would be as close as Plattsburgh got, as the Cardinals fell 21-14 after Morrisville closed out the game with three straight goals.
With the loss, Plattsburgh State falls to 2-8 (0-4 SUNYAC) and will return to action on Wednesday, Apr. 8, hosting Potsdam for a 4 p.m. opening draw.
