Cardinals Roll Past Morrisville, 8–0, on Senior Day

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - The Plattsburgh State Cardinals wrapped up the 2025–26 regular season in style on Senior Day, posting a dominant 8–0 victory over the Morrisville State Mustangs at Ronald B. Stafford Ice Arena on Saturday afternoon.

Plattsburgh came out firing early and never looked back, scoring three times in the first period, three more in the second, and adding two insurance goals in the third to complete the shutout and extend its unbeaten streak to nine games heading into SUNYAC playoff action.

First-year forward Riley Keller (Cuba, N.Y.) set the tone just 3:35 into the season finale, finding the back of the net off an assist from senior Ella Fesette (Plattsburgh, N.Y.). Junior Sydnee Francis (Canton, N.Y.) followed less than two minutes later with an unassisted tally, and sophomore Kate Conlon (New Hudson, Mich.) capped the first-period scoring with a goal at the 5:52 mark.

The Cardinals' offense didn't slow down in the second, as senior Molly Riggi (Farmingdale, N.J.), Conlon (shorthanded), and first-year Bailey MacKellar (Hamburg, N.Y.) all found the back of the net before intermission. Plattsburgh added two more in the third on goals by senior Taya Balfour (Moorestown, N.J.) and first-year Piper Smith (Newnan, Ga.) on the power play to seal the resounding win.

The Cardinals' defense was equally impressive, holding Morrisville scoreless. Sophomore goaltender Maddy Stetson (Wasilla, Alaska) earned the shutout with 16 saves, backing a relentless Plattsburgh attack that outshot Morrisville 41–16 on the afternoon.

With the win, the Cardinals improve to 18-6-1 overall and 12-1-1 in SUNYAC play. Plattsburgh will return to Stafford Ice Arena next weekend when it hosts the SUNYAC semifinals as it awaits its playoff opponent.
