SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State men's soccer team remained unbeaten on the year after earning a 2-2 draw on the road against Skidmore College Wednesday afternoon.

The matchup marked the first regular-season meeting between the two programs since 2019, and it proved to be a back-and-forth contest.

Skidmore struck first in the 26th minute when Tobias Catizone opened the scoring for the Thoroughbreds. The Cardinals responded with a strong offensive push late in the first half. In the 39th minute, first-year Robbie Kapovic (Dix Hills, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills East) netted his first career collegiate goal to level the score. Less than a minute before halftime, junior Jake McGowan (Warwick, N.Y./Warwick Valley) tallied his first collegiate goal as well, sending Plattsburgh into the break with a 2-1 lead after outshooting Skidmore 9-5 in the opening period.

The Thoroughbreds quickly drew level just three minutes into the second half, as Colin Goodhines converted to make it 2-2. Skidmore continued to control much of the second half, outshooting Plattsburgh 7-2, but the Cardinals' defense held firm to preserve the draw.

With the result, Plattsburgh moves to 3-0-2 on the season and will return home on Saturday to face Union College at 2 p.m.
