PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – With a strong returning foundation to pair with fresh talent, the Plattsburgh State women's basketball team is positioned to push for a second straight State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Tournament appearance under fifth-year head coach
Ben Sarraf.
During the 2024-25 campaign, the Cardinals finished with a 14-12 (10-8 SUNYAC) record, featuring a SUNYAC Tournament first-round appearance. That postseason appearance marked a turning point in the program, breaking a 10-year drought since the team made the playoffs. After advancing to the SUNYAC playoffs, the next step is to make a run in the postseason and claim their second SUNYAC title.
"We are looking to build on the previous year's success and raise the bar for a fourth consecutive season," said Sarraf. "Our team is fully invested in creating an atmosphere that any player or coach dreams of experiencing. I am excited for the opportunity to coach this team with this coaching staff."
The Cardinals return with a versatile, experienced core, as junior guard
Julia Greek (Long Island, N.Y. / Ward Melville), senior guard
Jaden Wilson (Johnstown, N.Y. / Johnstown), and senior forward
Imani Walcott (Albany, N.Y. / Albany) highlight the 12 returners. Four newcomers will join the team to round out the rest of the 16-woman roster.
Plattsburgh State's quest for its second straight conference tournament appearance and a SUNYAC title starts when the team hosts RPI tomorrow, Nov. 8, at 2 p.m.
Guards

Sophomore
Kayla Johannesen (Hyde Park, N.Y. / Our Lady of Lourdes) and juniors
Lauren LaFountain (Saratoga Springs, N.Y. / Saratoga Springs) and
