Five-Goal Surge Lifts Plattsburgh to 5–0 Road Win at Morrisville

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. — Coming off a home sweep last weekend to open conference play with wins over William Smith and Buffalo State, the Plattsburgh State women's hockey team looked to stay unbeaten in SUNYAC action as they hit the road for their conference road opener at Morrisville. The Cardinals entered the matchup 17–0 all-time against the Mustangs and added to that dominance with a decisive 5–0 victory on Friday night.

After a scoreless opening period, Plattsburgh exploded in the second, striking for five goals to take full control of the game. The scoring opened when a quick outlet pass sent Emily Kasprzak up ice, where she attacked her defender one-on-one, beat her wide, and buried the finish to put the Cardinals on the board. Moments later, Brooke Terry doubled the lead after intercepting a pass in the Mustangs' defensive zone, absorbing contact as she held possession and powered home Plattsburgh's second of the night.

The Cardinals continued to apply heavy pressure, and Taya Balfour made it 3–0 by sending a puck toward the crease through traffic that would find the back of the net. Plattsburgh added a fourth when Tessa Morris picked off another pass deep in Morrisville's end and squared a feed to a streaking Kasprzak, who wasted no time burying her second goal of the period. The surge capped off when Balfour threaded a tight-window pass to the front of the net, where Terry finished it off for her second of the game.

Plattsburgh's dominance carried through all three periods, highlighted by a strong defensive effort that limited Morrisville's chances and saw the Cardinals control the faceoff dot. Goaltender Maddy Stetson stopped all 16 shots she faced to record the shutout.

With the win, Plattsburgh improves to 4–1 overall and 3–0 in SUNYAC play, pushing their all-time record against the Mustangs to 18–0. The Cardinals return to action tomorrow at 3 p.m. as they continue their road trip with a conference matchup at Cortland.
