The first set saw tightly contested play as the Cardinals held an early 7-6 lead after Estime put down a kill, but back-to-back points from New Paltz flipped the momentum as the Hawks took a 14-12 lead. Plattsburgh stayed in the battle using a 4-0 surge to take a 21-18 lead, but a 6-0 run by the Hawks to end the set gave New Paltz a 25-22 set win.

The Hawks carried that momentum into the second set, taking an early 8-4 lead after scoring three straight points. Midway through the set, an Iris Mulvey (Middle Island, N.Y. / Longwood) service ace brought the Cardinals within two, but multiple runs by New Paltz extended their lead and secured a 25-13 set victory for the Hawks.

After the Cardinals took a momentary 2-1 lead, the Hawks scored six straight points, followed by four straight points to take a 12-4 lead. Despite a 3-0 outburst that ended with a kill from Katie Salphine (Le Roy, N.Y. / Le Roy), Plattsburgh couldn't get any momentum and dropped the third and final set 25-12.
