MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - The Plattsburgh State women's soccer team traveled to Middlebury on Wednesday afternoon and fell to the Panthers 9-0 in non-conference action.
The Cardinals move to 2-1 with the loss and next play RPI on Saturday, Sept. 9 at home. Middlebury moves to 1-0 and will play #11 Amherst in their conference opener on Saturday, Sept. 9.
In the game action, Middlebury controlled the game for all 90 minutes, scoring four goals in the first half and five in the second. They received goals from Emma Binks, Abby Ward, and Joely Vitzi in the first half, with Ward scoring twice. In the second half, Binks scored again and Baldwin Gittens, Chloe Swindle, and Olivia Reily were the final goal scorers with Swindle also scoring twice.
Lauren Haley (LaGrange, N.Y./Arlington) made eight saves in net in over 60 minutes of action, while
Lily Bailey (Warwick, N.Y./Warwick Valley) made her collegiate debut and made five saves for the Cardinals.
