NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State women's tennis team dropped a 9-0 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) decision to SUNY New Paltz on Friday afternoon at the North Tennis Courts.
Juniors
Samantha Svantner (West Nyack, N.Y./Clarkstown South) and
Nicole Svantner (West Nyack, N.Y./Clarkstown South) won three games at No. 2 doubles in an 8-3 setback, while sophomore
Sophia Gottschall (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Plattsburgh) had the Cardinals' best showing in singles play, falling, 6-3, 6-4, at the No. 5 spot.
Nicole Svantner won five games at sixth singles, falling 6-3, 6-2, to her New Paltz counterpart.
Plattsburgh State falls to 3-4 overall (1-3 SUNYAC) with the loss and next takes on SUNY Brockport on Thursday, Oct. 6, at 3 p.m. at the Binghamton Tennis Center. New Paltz rises to 4-1 overall (4-0 SUNYAC) with the win and faces off with SUNY Geneseo next on Thursday, Oct. 6, at the Binghamton Tennis Center.
