PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State women's tennis team fell to SUNY Cortland, 7-2, in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) action Friday afternoon at the Memorial Tennis Courts.
Juniors
Nicole Svantner (West Nyack, N.Y./Clarkstown South) and
Samantha Svantner (West Nyack, N.Y./Clarkstown South) won, 8-6, at No. 3 doubles, while senior
Alyana Leandry (Latham, N.Y./Shaker) picked up a 6-4, 6-2 victory at No. 2 singles.

Sarah Benowitz (New City, N.Y./Clarkstown North) forced a tiebreak in the first set at No. 3 and No. 4 singles, respectively, but their counterpart from Cortland wound up prevailing in each of those tiebreakers.
Prior to the start of the match, the program held a ceremony honoring the 50th anniversary of Title IX.
Plattsburgh State falls to 2-3 overall (0-2 SUNYAC) with the loss and next hosts Oswego State tomorrow at 1 p.m. Cortland rises to 2-0 overall (2-0 SUNYAC) with the win and next visits SUNY New Paltz tomorrow at 12 p.m.
