SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State men's lacrosse team fell to No. 13 Union College, 21-5, in non-conference action on Sunday afternoon at Frank Bailey Field.
Union finished the game with the upper hand in shots (62-19) and ground balls (50-15) in addition to going 15-for-17 on clears and 24-for-30 at the 'X.' Plattsburgh State, meanwhile, went 17-for-27 on clears and scored on its lone extra-man opportunity of the game.
Plattsburgh State falls to 1-3 overall with the loss and next visits Plymouth State University on Wednesday, March 16, at 4 p.m. Union rises to 5-0 overall with the win and next hosts Middlebury College on Tuesday, March 22, at 4:30 p.m.
The Dutchmen never trailed in the contest, scoring the first 11 goals before senior midfielder
Stephen Kane (Hampden, Mass./Minnechaug Regional) scored twice in a span of 1:11 to put the Cardinals on the board late in the second quarter. Junior midfielder
Owen Lorenzetti (Seneca Falls, N.Y./Mynderse Academy) earned an assist on Kane's first goal. Union scored the final three goals of the second to take a 14-2 advantage into the half.
Union went on a 5-0 run to start the third quarter before first-year midfielder
Logan Vilardi (West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon) scored on a pass from senior midfielder
Andrew Braverman (Sayville, N.Y./Sayville) and junior midfielder
Robby Martin (Saugerties, N.Y./Saugerties) tallied unassisted. The Dutchmen led, 19-4, through three quarters of action. While Union scored a goal 2:11 into the fourth quarter, senior midfielder
Zach Gill (Miller Place, N.Y./Rocky Point) used a pass from Kane to score on a man-up strike with 4:40 left. Union completed the scoring in the contest when sophomore long-stick midfielder Gavin Miller found the back of the net with 2:42 remaining.

Justin Rocovich (Bohemia, N.Y./Connetquot) finished with three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
For Union, six student-athletes netted multiple goals, led by senior attackman Peter Burnes, who tallied four points on three goals and an assist. First-year face-off specialist Luke McHugh went 14-for-17 on face-offs and collected 12 ground balls, while senior defenseman Ryan Puglisi caused two turnovers.
