Buffalo State jumped out to a 17-10 lead early in the first set, but a 7-1 Cardinal run that included a pair of kills by Ganz drew Plattsburgh State within one. After the Bengals scored three of the next four points, Ganz connected on a kill and a service ace to whittle the deficit back down to one. Buffalo State closed the stanza with a 4-1 spurt to take the first, 25-21.
The Bengals opened up with 7-2 and 9-4 leads in the second before the Cardinals clawed back, and a pair of Ganz kills cut the gap to 17-15. That wound up being the closest Plattsburgh State would get down the stretch, as Buffalo State held on for a 25-21 victory in the second.
The two teams battled early in the third, with Buffalo State's 5-2 lead evaporating after a 3-0 Plattsburgh State run. Both sides continued to trade points, with the Bengals inching ahead, but Buffalo State closed the set on a 6-1 surge to post a match-clinching 25-16 triumph in the third.
