Men's Soccer Falls on the Road at Union in Non-Conference Tilt

SCHENECTADY, NY – The Plattsburgh State men's soccer team fell to Union College on the road Wednesday night, 3-0 in non-conference action. The three goals are the most the Cardinals have allowed this season, tying the total that Cortland also hit in a 3-3 tie.

Plattsburgh fall to 5-4-2 with the loss while Union improves to 3-5-1 overall. The Cards are currently 4-2 in conference play, with two more games left on that side of their schedule.

The first half was relatively quiet as each team struggled to gain much footing offensively, resulting in seven total shots from each side. Union was able to get on the board with a shot by Connor Dolin to the lower left of the goal, which gave the Dutchmen a lead they would not relinquish.

Evan Perry and Luca Richo each tallied goals in the second half, in a two-minute span starting in the 66thminute that put the game out of reach for the Cardinals.

Teddy Healy (Amityville, NY/Kellenberg Memorial) was charged with the loss in goal as his record moves to 4-3-1 on the season. He made six saves, facing nine shots in the non-conference tilt.

Brian Coughlan (Pearl River, NY/Pearl River) was the leading shot taker for the Cards, as his four shots made up seven of the attempts Plattsburgh took.

The team will travel to Oswego on Saturday, Oct. 9, for an important conference match with last year's runner-up in the conference tournament. Plattsburgh tied with Oswego in the conference standings for the final playoff spot, but Oswego advanced to the tournament with the tiebreaker, making a run to the conference championship before they lost to Cortland.
