COLCHESTER, Vt. – The Plattsburgh State women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 non-conference decision to NCAA Division II Saint Michael's College on Wednesday afternoon at the Tarrant Recreation Center.

Bri Miller (East Greenbush, N.Y./Columbia) and sophomore
Jacqueline Svantner (West Nyack, N.Y./Clarkstown South) won, 6-4, at No. 3 doubles, Saint Michael's prevailed at No. 1 and No. 2. As a result, the Purple Knights took the doubles point.
First-year student
Sophia Gottschall (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Plattsburgh) earned her first career victory in singles play, winning, 7-5, 6-1, at No. 6. At No. 2 singles, senior
Sarah Hoeffner (Montgomery, N.Y./Valley Central) was edged in the first set, 7-6, after narrowly losing an 8-6 tiebreak. Her counterpart then won, 6-3, in the second.
Plattsburgh State falls to 1-2 overall with the loss and next visits Hartwick College on Friday, Sept. 10, at 4 p.m. Saint Michael's rises to 1-1 overall with the win and next visits Assumption College on Sunday, Sept. 12, at 1 p.m.
