PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. — The Plattsburgh State men's soccer team is set to begin the 2021 season with a non-conference match at Clarkson University on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

The Cardinals, who are led by fourth-year head coach Chris Taylor, played to an 11-8-0 (7-2-0 State University of New York Athletic Conference [SUNYAC]) record and reached the SUNYAC championship match in 2019. After having the 2020 season canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Cardinals look to build upon the success they had in 2019.

"We are really grateful and excited that we are in a position to play," Taylor said. "It has been a long time since we have played an official game. We are really excited to get back to doing what we love doing. The expectations are to be as successful as possible and compete in every single game. We want to win every game and if we approach one game at a time, trying to win that game that is in front of us, that will take us really far."

Plattsburgh State, which has made the SUNYAC Tournament in each of its last five seasons, has won eight SUNYAC titles in program history.
