TROY, N.Y. – Norm Law, who served as head coach of the Plattsburgh State men's basketball team from 1969-86, was inducted into the New York State Basketball Hall of Fame on Sunday evening.

Law, the 1979 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Coach of the Year, led the Cardinals to two SUNYAC titles and 171 wins during his 17 years on the Memorial Hall sidelines and most notably helmed Plattsburgh State's 1975-76 team that advanced all the way to the NCAA Division III semifinals, the furthest a Cardinal men's basketball team has advanced in the national tournament in its history. That 1975-76 squad was the first team to be inducted in the Plattsburgh State Athletic Hall of Fame.

Following his tenure at Plattsburgh State, Law served as an assistant coach on Paul Evans' staff at NCAA Division I and then-Big East Conference member University of Pittsburgh for eight years. During his time at Pitt, which included an overlap of two years with current University of Kentucky head coach John Calipari, the Panthers made five NCAA Tournament appearances.
