PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – Senior pitcher
Matt Fox (Shoreham, N.Y./Shoreham-Wading River) set the all-time starts record in the Plattsburgh State Baseball teams 8-7 loss to New Paltz on Sunday at Chip Cummings Field.
Plattsburgh State ends their season with a 12-20 overall record and 6-12 in the SUNYAC while New Paltz finished theirs 13-18 overall and 5-13 in the conference.
Senior
Patrick Bryant (Center Moriches, N.Y./Center Moriches) went 3-for-4 at the plate and junior
Stephen Bryant (Center Moriches, N.Y./Center Moriches) was 2-for-4 at the plate.
New Paltz scored two runs in the top of the first off a sacrifice fly and a single and recorded one more in the top of the second to take a 3-0 lead.
Plattsburgh State scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth to make it 3-2.
Senior
Jon Craft (Smithtown, N.Y./Smithtown West) singled to left field to drive in senior
Rocco Cipriano (Dobbs Ferry, N.Y./Dobbs Ferry) and P. Bryant scored off a walk.
The Hawks logged three more runs in the top of the fifth off a double, a wild pitch and a sacrifice fly to take a 6-2 advantage.
Junior
Keller Kowalowski (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Beekmantown) scored in the bottom of the fifth off a sacrifice fly from sophomore
Simon Alvarez (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Arlington) to make it 6-3.
New Platz made it 7-3 in the top of the sixth off a single.
The Cardinals started to rally in the bottom of the sixth and scored three runs to make it 7-6.
S. Bryant doubled down the left field line to drive in Craft, junior
Santino Ycaza (Mastic, N.Y./Brentwood Sonderling) scored off a ground out and S. Bryant scored off a single from P. Bryant.
The Hawks scored one in the top of the seventh off a single for an 8-6 lead.
S. Bryant scored in the bottom of the eighth off a single from junior
Stephen Lydon (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y./Suffolk CC) to make it 8-7.
Unfortunately, the Cardinals couldn't keep the rally going and took the one-run loss.
Fox pitched 4.1 innings and allowed six hits, six runs, walked two and struck out one.
Senior
Ryan Whalen (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Plattsburgh) pitched 1.1 innings and allowed one hit, one run and walked one.
Sophomore
Matthew Triola (Saratoga Springs, N.Y./Saratoga Springs) pitched 1.0 innings and gave up three hits and one run.

Frank Finkbeiner (Stone Ridge, N.Y./Rondout Valley) pitched 2.1 innings and allowed one hit and walked one.
