BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State baseball team finished their series against Brockport with a 10-9 loss on Saturday at Clarl V. Whited field.
Plattsburgh State is now 4-12 overall and 2-7 in the SUNYAC while Brockport moves to 8-12 overall and 3-6 in the conference.
Brockport recorded 18 hits while Plattsburgh State had eight.
Both junior
Stephen Bryant (Center Moriches, N.Y./Center Moriches) and sophomore
Erik Matz (Medford, N.Y./Patchogue-Medford) went 3-for-3 at the plate.
Bryant scored on a wild pitch and Matz scored on a passed ball in the top of the first to take a 2-0 lead.
Brockport tied the game in the bottom of the first off a double and a single.
Bryant and Matz scored again in the top of the fifth off a single from junior
Keller Kowalowski (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Beekmantown) for a 4-2 advantage.
Brockport tied it again in the bottom of the fifth off two singles and took an 8-4 lead in the bottom of the seventh after scoring off two, two-run singles.
The Cardinals recorded five runs in the top of the ninth.
Senior
Jordan Godfrey (Castleton, Vt./Rutland) scored off a ground out, senior
Jon Craft (Smithtown, N.Y./Smithtown West) scored off a single from Matz, Bryant scored off a sacrifice fly from Kowalowski and sophomore
Simon Alvarez (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Arlington) hit a two-run homerun to plate Matz for a 9-8 advantage.
Brockport hit a two-run homerun in the bottom of the ninth for the 10-9 win.
Ryan Whalen (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Plattsburgh) pitched 4.1 innings and gave up seven hits, four runs, walked four and struck out two.
Senior
PJ Weeks (Bayport, N.Y./Bayport-Blue Point) pitched 0.1 innings and allowed two hits.
Junior
Justin Adams (Valhalla, N.Y./Westlake) pitched 2.0 innings and gave up five hits and four runs.
Senior
Frank Finkbeiner (Stone Ridge, N.Y./Rondout Valley) pitched 1.2 innings and allowed three hits, one run and walked one.
Sophomore
Matthew Triola (Saratoga Springs, N.Y./Saratoga Springs) pitched 0.2 innings and gave up one hit and one run.
Plattsburgh State will travel to Skidmore on Thursday, April 4 for a single game at 4 p.m.
