PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State men's ice hockey team fell, 4-0, to No. 15 Williams College on Saturday evening in non-conference action at the Ronald B. Stafford Ice Arena, marking the team's final home tilt before a four-game stretch of road contests.

The Cardinals held a slight 24-23 edge in shots on goal, while the Ephs were better on special-teams situations, going 1-for-5 on the power play versus the Cardinals' 0-for-4 performance with the extra skater. Plattsburgh State did, however, kill off a 1:47 5-on-3 power play midway through the second period.
Plattsburgh State slips to 6-7-2 overall with the loss and visits Wesleyan University next on Tuesday, Jan. 15, at 4 p.m. Williams rises to 9-4-1 overall with the win and hosts Bowdoin College next on Friday, Jan. 18, at 7 p.m.
Senior forward Marcus Mollica scored for Williams 3:03 into the contest, tallying on a pass from senior forward Roberto Cellini on the rush. Cellini got in the goal column midway through the first period, as he knocked in the rebound on a shot taken by sophomore defenseman Daniel Woolfenden that clanged off the post. Sophomore forward Nick Van Belle also earned an assist on the play.
The Ephs took a 3-0 lead 14:31 into the second, as junior forward Will Somers scored on the power play as a result of a five-minute major assessed to Plattsburgh State. Van Belle and junior defenseman Max Fuld each helped get the puck to Somers behind the Cardinal net, and Somers emerged out in front of the net along the left post and backhanded a shot glove side into the back of the goal.
Finally, at 7:33 in the third, Williams added even more insurance to close out scoring. On the rush, freshman forward Niko Karamanis took a shot that sophomore goaltender
Lawson Fenton (Medina, N.Y./Coquitlam Express) turned away with a pad save, but sophomore forward Bobby Beniers banged home the rebound. Sophomore forward Julian Detmer was credited with the secondary assist on the play.
Fenton turned aside 19 shots in the loss for the Cardinals, while senior goaltender Michael Pinios made 24 saves in the win for the Ephs. Defensively, junior defenseman

Cole Stallard (Atlanta, Ga./New Hampshire Jr. Monarchs) each blocked two shots.
