SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – For the second time in as many games, the Plattsburgh State men's soccer team battled its opponent to a 0-0, double-overtime tie, as the Cardinals drew with non-conference Skidmore College on Tuesday evening at Wachenheim Field.
The Cardinals finished with a 17-10 edge in shots, but the Thoroughbreds held the upper hand in corners, 7-3.
Plattsburgh State moves to 1-3-2 overall with the result and next visits Clarkson University on Saturday, Sept. 15, at 2 p.m. Skidmore moves to 2-1-2 overall with the result and next hosts Union College in its Liberty League opener on Friday, Sept. 14, at 7 p.m.
The Cardinals had a handful of chances to net the golden goal in the second overtime period, as they took three shots and gained two corner kick opportunities. Skidmore was able to keep Plattsburgh State off the scoreboard, however, to preserve the 0-0 tie.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Ryan Wilson (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Arlington) posted his third overall and second straight shutout of the season with a four-save effort, while junior goalkeeper Sebastian Bosch made six stops for Skidmore.
