CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State baseball team is now 6-9 overall and 1-5 in the SUNYAC after wrapping up their series against No. 12/20 SUNY Cortland (12-6, 5-1) with a 13-0 loss on Monday.
Cortland led 1-0 after the first inning after a one-run single. They scored two runs in the third off a sacrifice fly and a home run to left center.
The Red Dragons had another one-run single in the fourth and recorded a two-run double in the fifth to lead 6-0.
Cortland had a huge sixth inning with five more runs off two singles, a walk and another two-run double.
Another single and a sacrifice fly in the eighth gave the Red Dragons their 13 runs.

Ryan Whalen (Plattsburgh, N.Y. / Plattsburgh) pitched five innings and gave up nine hits, six runs, walked two and struck out one.
Freshman
Matthew Triola (Saratoga Springs, N.Y. / Saratoga Springs) pitched one inning and scattered four hits, five runs and walked three.
Sophomore
Connor Lyons (Brookhaven, N.Y. / Bellport) pitched two inning and gave up three hits, two runs and walked two.
The Cardinals will have their home opened on Friday, March 30 against The College at Brockport at 3 p.m.
