Patron Double-Doubles In No. 13 Men’s Basketball 93-64 Win Over St. Lawrence

CANTON, N.Y. – Senior forward Jonathan Patron (Huntington, N.Y. / Harborfields) recorded a double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds in the No. 13 Plattsburgh State men's basketball 93-64 win over St. Lawrence Tuesday night inside the Ronald T. Burkman Gymnasium.

The Cardinals are now 4-0 to start the season while the Saints fall to 2-3.

Senior guard Brandon Johnson (Greenburgh, N.Y./Woodlands) led Plattsburgh State with 26 points including five three-pointers and added four steals and three assists.

Senior guard/forward Chris Middleton (New York, N.Y./Cardinal Hayes) logged nine points, four steals and four assists.

Senior forward Isaiah Hill (Brooklyn, N.Y./HS for Dual Language and Asian Studies) picked up eight rebounds.

Patron had four assists and three steals as well.

The first half was tied twice before Plattsburgh State took and kept the lead. A layup and three-pointer from Patron put the Cardinals up by five points nine minutes in.

The Saints made one free throw but a three-pointer by junior guard Nick DeAngelis (West Milford, N.J./West Milford) put Plattsburgh State up by seven.

After a dunk by St. Lawrence DeAngelis drained another three for an eight point edge at the 8:12 mark.

With 2:36 remaining in the first half senior forward Ian Howard (Queens, N.Y./Springfield Gardens) put in a layup on a fast break and Middleton had a layup for a ten point cushion.

With one second left, the Saint put in a layup to trail 38-31 at halftime.

Plattsburgh State came out with a faster pace in the second half out-scoring St. Lawrence 55-33.

The Cardinals went on a 13-point run after the Saints started the half with a jumper.

Johnson drained a three, Middleton made a jumper, Patron had a jumper, Johnson made a layup, Middleton made two free throws and Johnson had a layup for an 18-point lead.

Plattsburgh State went on a 14-point run with five minutes remaining for a 31-point cushion.

DeAngeils drained a three, junior forward Adam Jaquish (Moriah, N.Y./Moriah) made a free throw and a layup, Middleton made a three and Patron put in a layup, a free throw and another layup.

St. Lawrence put in a basket in the final minutes to cut the Cardinals win to 29 points.   

The Saints had 23 turnovers which Plattsburgh State as able to score 28 points off of.

Plattsburgh State will start conference play on Friday, Nov. 30, when they host New Paltz at 7:30 p.m.
