Women’s Soccer Downed By Geneseo 2-0 In SUNYAC Semifinals

GENESEO, N.Y. – The fourth-seeded Plattsburgh State women's soccer team finished their season 13-6 overall after losing to the first-seeded Geneseo Knights (13-3-1) 2-0 in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) semifinal game on Wednesday at College Stadium.

The Cardinals recorded six shots in the first half with five being on net while Geneseo had 12 shots with six on goal but neither team could find the back of the net and went into halftime tied 0-0.

Graduate goalkeeper Taylor Adams (Schenectady, N.Y./Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons) logged six saves in the first half to keep the Knights side of the scoreboard blank.

Plattsburgh State started to push up in the second half but lost momentum when Geneseo scored their first goal in the 57th minute.

Senior midfielder Jennifer Moran scored from 25 yards out putting the ball into the upper left hand corner, just out of the keepers reach.

Moran scored again in the 82nd minute shooting the ball from 15 yards out arcing it under the cross bar.

Geneseo had nine corner kicks compared to Plattsburgh State having zero.

The Cardinals were accurate in their shots recording nine overall with eight being on goal.

Adams and the Knights goalie each made eight saves in the 90:00 minutes they played.

Freshman forward Kirsten Villemaire (Plattsburgh, N.Y. / Beekmantown) recorded five shots on goal while freshman forward/midfielder Allison Seidman (Commack, N.Y./Commack), senior defender Jessica Mangieri (Farmingdale, N.Y./Farmingdale) and junior midfielder Rachael Moran (Hopewell Junction, N.Y./Arlington) each had one.
