PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – Freshman forward Moe Tsukimoto (Sapporo, Japan/Northwood School) recorded a hat trick, as the No. 2/3 Plattsburgh State women's ice hockey team downed the Ottawa Lady 67's Intermediate AA team, 9-1, in its final exhibition game of the year on Saturday afternoon at the Ronald B. Stafford Ice Arena.

In addition, sophomore forward Annie Katonka (Pittsburgh, Pa./Pittsburgh Pens Elite) had a five-point day, tallying two goals and three assists. Senior forward Courtney Moriarty (Estero, Fla./Northfield Mount Hermon) and junior forward Sarah Wolf (Fairport, N.Y./Boston Shamrocks Elite) each had a goal and an assist, while junior defenseman Hannah Kiraly (Glendale, Ariz./Northern Cyclones) dished out two assists.
 
Per NCAA rules for exhibition contests, neither the statistics nor the result count toward the Cardinals' record.

Plattsburgh State opens up its regular-season and Northeast Women's Hockey League (NEWHL) schedule on Friday, Nov. 2, as it hosts SUNY Cortland in a 7 p.m. game.
 
Katonka put the Cardinals on the board 3:51 into the contest, scoring on the power play thanks to assists from Moriarty and Kiraly. Tsukimoto found the back of the net at 8:10 of the first period on assists from Katonka and sophomore defenseman Kerri Corcoran (Rockville, Md./Washington Pride) and added a power-play goal 1:15 later courtesy of a Katonka face-off win and a Kiraly feed from the point.
 
Goleniak cashed in on a feed from Wolf 4:23 into the second period before Tsukimoto completed the hat trick at 7:05 of the second period, scoring unassisted. Wolf entered the goal column 1:40 later on passes from freshman forwards Natalia Asimakis (Grosse Pointe Shores, Mich./Little Caesars) and Holly Schmelzer (East Amherst, N.Y./Niagara Jr. Purple Eagles), while Katonka gave the Cardinals a 7-0 lead at 12:38 of the second period on assists from sophomore forward Madison Walker (Denver, Colo./Lansing Spartans) and freshman forward Taylor Whitney (Livonia, Mich./Little Caesars).
 
Sophomore forward Abby Brush (Mount Prospect, Ill./Chicago Young Americans) capitalized on a feed from Katonka 1:07 into the third, while Moriarty scored on an assist from sophomore forward Kaitlin Drew-Mead (Niagara Falls, N.Y./Buffalo Bisons) with 16:00 gone in the third.
 
The Ottawa Lady 67's erased the shutout bid 51 seconds after Moriarty's goal, as Hayley McDonald found twine on assists from Olivianne Devine and Darian Kennedy.
 
Plattsburgh State finished with a 48-22 edge in shots on goal and went 2-for-4 on the power play. The Ottawa Lady 67's were scoreless in three chances with the extra skater.

Senior goaltender Kassi Abbott (Medford, Mass./Boston Shamrocks Elite) and freshman goaltender Ashley Davis (Winterville, N.C./Northwood School) made 12 and nine saves, respectively, in the win for the Cardinals, while the Ottawa Lady 67's goaltenders combined to make 39 stops in the loss.
