POTSDAM, N.Y. – Nine Cardinals recorded at least one point as the top-ranked Plattsburgh State women's ice hockey team beat SUNY Potsdam, 4-1, in Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Women's West play at the Maxcy Ice Arena Saturday afternoon. Plattsburgh State, now a winner in 13 straight games, improves to 19-1 overall and 13-1 in the league, while SUNY Potsdam goes to 11-8-1 and 7-5-1. The Cardinals' national rankings are according to the latest U.S. College Hockey Online (USCHO) and D3hockey.com polls.

Sheeran logged the 21st game-winning goal of her career to take sole possession of first in program history, breaking a tie with
Danielle Blanchard '09. Sheeran also moved past Shannon Stewart '15 for sixth in school history in career goals (68), while tying
Bridget Balisy '16 for ninth in career points (124). Meneghin moved into a tie for sixth with Jenn Clarke '06 in career assists (76) and Leonard registered her 66th career win and needs only three wins to tie Sydney Aveson '14 for the program's career mark.
Potsdam sophomore Riley Murray scored with help from senior Jordan Ott and junior Anna-Rose Bertin. Senior Amanda Peterson added 14 faceoff wins and freshman Alexa Pfeiffer made 37 stops in net.
Plattsburgh State owned a 2-0 lead after a 14-shot first period. Kraus opened the scoring at 6:49 with help from Turk and Wolf before Sheeran potted her 23rd goal of the season at 13:15. Both squads recorded 11 shots in the second period, with Murray netting a power-play goal at 15:25 for the Bears to trim the deficit to 2-1. The Cardinals later responded on a Turk goal with 44 seconds left in the stanza to put the visitors up 3-1. Songin scored at 5:38 of the third for the game's final goal.
Plattsburgh State heads back home for three straight games against nationally-ranked opponents, beginning with a 7 p.m. Wednesday non-conference contest against No. 9 Middlebury College. The Cardinals and Panthers last met on Nov. 26 in the Panther/Cardinal Classic championship game, with Plattsburgh State having prevailed, 2-1.
