PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The top-ranked Plattsburgh State women's ice hockey team beat Chatham University, 7-1, to complete the two-game Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Women's West weekend sweep at the Ronald B. Stafford Ice Arena on Sunday. The Cardinals improve to 14-1 overall and 8-1 in the league, while the Cougars slide to 5-9-1 and 0-7-1. Plattsburgh State's ranking is according to the latest U.S. College Hockey Online (USCHO) Division III national poll.

Muna Fadel (Belle River, Ontario/Southwest Jr. Wildcats) buried two goals. Senior
Melissa Ames (Rochester, N.Y./Pittsburgh Penguins Elite U-19) had one goal and one assist, while junior
Melissa Sheeran (Schaghticoke, N.Y./Millbrook School) and sophomores
Karen Hudson (Sykesville, Md./Washington Pride) and
Mackenzie Millen (Anchorage, Alaska/North American Hockey Academy) each netted one goal. Junior
Megan Crandell (Fullerton, Calif./Saint Norbert) provided two assists and senior
Katelyn Turk (Mississauga, Ontario/Etobicoke Jr. Dolphins) was 10-of-14 on faceoffs. Senior
Jordan Lipson (Davis, Calif./Pomfret School) dished an assist while playing her 100th career game. Sophomore
Kassi Abbott (North Billerica, Mass./Boston Shamrocks Elite U-19) made six saves for the win in her third career start.
Chatham junior Cassidy Colhoun scored with help from classmate Kasandra Patersen. Sophomore Kirajean Frost won nine faceoffs and junior Sydney Isbell made 66 saves.
Both sides went scoreless in the opening period, with Plattsburgh State peppering the net on 22 shots. The hosts then reeled off three goals in the opening 10:13 of the second period. After skating through the neutral zone off a defensive zone breakout, Lipson shoveled a left side pass to a crashing Millen, whose backhanded redirection beat Isbell to the right side at 3:08 for the 1-0 lead. Songin added to the score after deflecting Crandell's point shot at 9:55. Fadel then struck 18 seconds later after collecting a rebound and depositing a low shot into the open right side at 10:13. Colhoun would trim the margin to 3-1 for the Cougars as she redirected Petersen's blue-line shot at 15:31 on the power play.
Plattsburgh State would tack on four third-period goals to pull away in the final stanza. Hudson scored a power-play goal at 2:08 before Sheeran tallied at 6:32 to wrap up her weekend with eight total points on five goals and three assists. Ames buried a shot at 8:36 and Fadel potted her second of the game with 34 seconds to go.
Plattsburgh continues its ECAC Women's West schedule with a pair of games next weekend against Utica College, beginning on Saturday at 3 p.m.
