PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State men's soccer team secured the No. 6 seed in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Tournament Saturday afternoon at the Field House Soccer Complex on Senior Day, as the Cardinals topped SUNY Geneseo, 2-0, in the SUNYAC finale for both teams.
The Cardinals will face third-seeded Fredonia in the first round of the six-team tournament on Saturday, Oct. 29, at 1 p.m. The game will take place at Fredonia's University Stadium. Geneseo was eliminated from SUNYAC Tournament contention with the loss.

After a scoreless first half in which Plattsburgh State dominated possession, the Cardinals finally got onto the board 1:09 into the second period. Junior midfielder
Nicholas Laurent (New City, N.Y./Clarkstown South) gained possession of the ball on the left edge of the 18-yard box before slipping a pass to senior forward
Chris Bowden (Commack, N.Y./Commack), who turned and fired the ball into the back of the net from five yards out to give the Cardinals a 1-0 lead.
Plattsburgh State received insurance in the 77th minute, as senior forward
Alexis Archilla (Warwick, N.Y./Warwick Valley) received a long pass from junior midfielder
Ian Spear (Peru, N.Y./Peru), took on two Knight defenders and used nifty footwork to gain separation before firing a right-footed strike from the top of the 18-yard box past the Geneseo goalkeeper.
The Cardinals finished with a 20-12 margin in shots, while each team had five corner kicks.
Archilla took nine shots (three on goal) during the contest for Plattsburgh State, while freshman midfielder Junsei Ro led Geneseo with three shots (one on goal).
Freshman goalkeeper
Patrick Feeley (Harriman, N.Y./Monroe-Woodbury) picked up his second shutout victory in as many days for the Cardinals, making two stops, while freshman goalkeeper Dillon Medd made five saves in the loss for Geneseo.
Prior to the start of the match, the Cardinals honored their six seniors—Bowden, Archilla,
Nick Economou (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal),
Ryan Miller (Hopewell Junction, N.Y./Arlington),
Jonathan Gamboa (Mamaroneck, N.Y./Mamaroneck) and
