Box Score 2 NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State volleyball (5-6) team came up short in their effort to remain above .500 on Saturday in games against Elmira and New Rochelle.
The Cardinals fell 3-1 (26-24, 25-19, 25-27, 25-19) to the Elmira Soaring Eagles (6-2) in the first match up.
Izzy Ruff accumulated seven kills and 12 digs for Plattsburgh, while teammate
Sydney Gabriel notched eight digs and 22 assists in the losing effort.
The Cardinal seemed to have more offensive power in the second match up of the day, despite falling again 3-1 (25-18, 11-25, 26-24, 25-19) to New Rochelle (8-3).
Sam Colombo tallied an impressive 19 kills and 25 digs for Plattsburgh.
Sydney Gabriel posted 31 assists to go along with 12 digs, and sophomore
Jordynne Ales grabbed 22 digs and five service aces.
The Cardinals started the year with a 5-2 record, but stumbled in the last four matches, all of which have been on the road.
Plattsburgh will look to turn things around next weekend when they head to Buffalo State to begin SUNYAC pool play.
