PITTSBURGH – The Plattsburgh State women's hockey team returned to the ice to play Chatham for the second straight day, blanking the Cougars 8-0.
The Cardinals would jump out to a quick start, opening the game for three goals in the first period.
Sophomore,
Kayla Meneghin would net the first two goals on both special team units. The forward would get her first goal shorthanded before scoring a power play goal less than three minutes later.
Jordan Lipson would then score the next two to close out the first and open the second period. Lipson's second goal would be the second man advantage goal for Plattsburgh State as the Cardinals finished the day a perfect two for two with extra skater.
Freshman,
Courtney Moriarty has now scored four goals in the past four games as the freshman scored twice on Saturday.
Melissa Ames scored her third of the season that was sandwiched in between the two Moriarty goals.
Muna Fadel would score her first collegiate goal in the third period to make it 8-0.
Camille Leonard got her third consecutive shutout making all 14 saves. Sydney Isbell played the first two periods making 24 saves before Marissa Janiga came in relief making 13 stops on 14 shots.
Bridget Balisy tied a game-high three points with Lipson as she assisted on the opening three goals.
Plattsburgh State goes to a perfect 6-0-0 (4-0-0 ECACW) while Chatham drops to 0-2-0 (0-2-0)
On the weekend the Cardinals outscored the Cougars 12-0.
Plattsburgh State will take nine days off before returning to the Stafford Ice Arena on November 24 to take on Castleton at 7 p.m. The last two meetings between the Cardinals and Spartans have both been decided by one goal with the Cardinals coming out victorious both times.
