PITTSBURGH – The Plattsburgh State women's ice hockey team traveled to Pittsburgh to take on Chatham Friday night, dropping the Cougars 4-0.
Plattsburgh State opened the game with two goals in the first period by the sophomore duo of
Melissa Sheeran and
Kayla Meneghin. After each of them tallied seven points each last weekend in two games against Neumann, the two forwards picked right up where they left off.
First was Sheeran lighting the lamp within the opening five minutes of the game. Meneghin would make it 2-0 with just 43 seconds remaining in the first period.
Meneghin added her second goal of the game with 4:29 remaining in the second period converting on the power play.
Sheeran would cap off the game with her second goal of the game with 3:36 remaining in the third.
Plattsburgh State owned a 42-16 shot advantage while finishing the night 1-3 on the power play.
Camille Leonard started in net for the Cardinals stopping all 16 shots for her third-consecutive shutout. Her counterpart Sydney Isbell made 38 saves on 42 shots for the Cougars.
Plattsburgh State improves to 5-0-0 (3-0-0 ECACW) while Chatham falls to 0-1-0 (0-1-0 ECACW) on the season.
The two teams will wrap up their weekend double header on Saturday at 3 p.m.
