Box Score BUFFALO, N.Y. – The top ranked Plattsburgh State women's hockey got all it could handle from the Bengals this time around only defeating Buffalo State 2-1 Saturday evening after beating them 7-0 less than 24 hours before.
Early on in the first period it looked like the Cardinals would pick-up where they left off last night when Giovanna Senese scored 1:04 into the game.
But that wouldn't be the case as Justine Silva settled down in net for the Bengals making 36 saves on 38 Cardinal shots.
The next 28 minutes would go scoreless till the Bengals got on the board and tied the game 1-1.
Erin Gehen scored her forth of the season 9:28 into the second period for the first Bengal goal of the weekend.
However, junior forward Bridget Balisy would respond for Plattsburgh State to giveback the Cardinals a 2-1 led with 9:30 remaining in the second period.
The rest of the game would remain scoreless as the Cardinals finished the game with 38 shots to the Bengals 15.
Camille Leonard collected 14 saves in the Plattsburgh State victory as the Cardinals swept the Bengals on the weekend.
Plattsburgh State finished the first semester 10-0-2 and 7-0-0 in the ECAC west. They will return to action on January 16, when they take on ECAC west newcomers Williams Smith.
