Cardinals Suffer 3-0 SUNYAC Loss to Brockport

Senior Meghan Clifford amassed a team-high 21 assists on Friday.
Box Score BROCKPORT, N.Y. – Coming off of a two-week hiatus, the Plattsburgh State volleyball team restarted its slate of State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) tilts, falling 3-0 (25-20, 25-17, 25-12) to The College at Brockport at Jim and John Vlogianitis Gymnasium on Friday night.

With the setback, the Cardinals slip to 4-10 overall and 0-4 in league play while the Golden Eagles improve to 9-6 and 2-2 in SUNYAC engagements.

The home team jumped out to a 9-3 lead early on in the first set and never looked back. A multi-pronged offensive attack by the Golden Eagles made it difficult for the Cardinals to set up a suitable defensive scheme on the opposite end of the court.

In the deciding set Brockport terminated early and often, leaping out to a 17-6 edge before the Cardinals knew what hit them.

Emily Miller, Miranda Sheffer and Melissa Wickers each totaled six kills for Plattsburgh State.

Meghan Clifford added a team-best 21 assists while freshman Jordynne Ales collected 14 digs – another team high.

Plattsburgh State will engage in more SUNYAC volleyball action on Saturday morning when it takes on Buffalo State at 10 a.m. before facing off against defending conference champion New Paltz at 12:30.
