PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – Senior forward Jennie Kistner pumped in the first two goals for the No. 1-ranked Plattsburgh State women's hockey team and put the finishing touches on her hat trick by adding the sixth tally of the game in the Cardinals' 7-0 ECAC West triumph over Buffalo State on Saturday afternoon at the Ronald B. Stafford Ice Arena.

The Peoria, Ill., product upped her 2013-14 goal total to a team-high seven as the Cardinals outshot the Bengals 60-13 in the one-sided contest. Plattsburgh State improves to 5-0-0 and 2-0-0 in ECAC West confrontations while the Bengals (0-4-0, 0-3-0 ECAC West) are still on the hunt for their first victory.

Kistner's game-winning goal came just 1:44 into the tilt when she located the puck in the middle of scrum in front of the Bengals' net and flipped it in the top shelf. A delayed penalty call prior to the score allowed the Cardinals to attack with six skaters. Fellow senior Chelsea VanGlahn picked up the first of her three points on the evening with an assist on Kistner's first tally.

Jordan Caldwell and Julia Duquette became the fourth and fifth Plattsburgh State skaters to gather up at least one point on the afternoon when they made the sharp passes that led to Kistner's second goal at 14:06 of the opening period.

After Kistner's first-period scoring outburst, the Cardinals spread the offense around during the 20-minute second frame.

Andrea Ziesmann located the back of the net for the first time this season, beating Buffalo State netminder Jordan Lee on her glove side to give the home squad a 3-0 advantage.

Capitalizing on the Bengals' second penalty of the game, Shannon Stewart racked up her fifth score of the season thanks to assists by Caldwell and Bridget Balisy to make it 4-0 Cardinals with 6:52 gone in the middle period.

Pouncing on a Buffalo State turnover, VanGlahn and Caldwell broke out for a two-on-one opportunity before Caldwell chipped in her first goal of the season due to a crisp pass from VanGlahn. That tally at 16:41 made it 5-0 Cardinals.

In the third period, Kistner sent another shot to the top portion of the Bengals' net for her third of the game. Balisy and Ziesmann each picked up an assist on that marker. VanGlahn put the wraps on the Cardinals' offensive showcase by netting her first of the season and at 15:30. Her first score of the season was assisted by Giovanna Senese.

In her first action between the pipes this season, Ally Ross (1-0-0) made 13 saves to earn the shutout. The majority of the shots the Red Lion, Pa., product faced came in the final frame when Buffalo State sent eight shots at the junior.

In addition to Kistner, Caldwell (1G, 2A) and VanGlahn (1G, 2A) also collected three points each during the league clash.

Lee (0-3-0) finished with 53 saves for the Bengals, who were 0-3 on the power play. The Cardinals finished the 60-minute 1-2 with the extra skater.

Plattsburgh State seeks to break out the brooms and keep its 2013-14 mark untarnished when the Cardinals conclude their season series with the Bengals on Sunday afternoon. Puck drop at the Stafford Ice Arena is scheduled for 2 p.m.
