CENTERVILLE, Mass. – Shannon Stewart of the Plattsburgh State women’s hockey team compiled seven points in a pair of games against Oswego State to be named Eastern College Athletic Conference West Division Player of the Week for the week ending Jan. 13.
A sophomore forward from Pickering, Ontario, Stewart matched a career-high with five points in Saturday’s 8-0 win over the Lakers. She scored the game-winning goal in the first period before adding three more markers in the second period to complete the hat trick. Stewart also picked up an assist in the third period to round out her afternoon.
On Sunday, Stewart continued racking up the points by figuring into both goals in a 2-0 shutout of Oswego. She tallied an assists on the Cardinals’ first goal before netting the second goal late in the third period. Following her weekend performance, Stewart is fifth in Division III with an average of 1.57 points per game.
The Cardinals, who remain at the top of the latest USCHO.com Div. III poll, are home for their next three games. Williams makes a stop at the Stafford Ice Arena Wednesday for a 7 p.m. non-conference matchup before Elmira comes to town for two crucial ECAC West games on Saturday and Sunday.
