GENESEO, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State men’s basketball team (8-17, 6-12 SUNYAC) finished off the regular season with a 75-53 loss to Geneseo (13-12, 11-7 SUNYAC) in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) action Saturday.

Despite the loss, the Cardinals remain unmoved as the seven seed in the conference standings.

The Cardinals led after 21 seconds when Shavar Fields connected for two points, but this was the only time in the game that the Blue Devils were behind. After taking the lead with 3:08 gone, Geneseo would not surrender the advantage for the remainder of the encounter.

The Cardinals stayed close to the Blue Knights in the first half, but they could not stick with them throughout the second as Geneseo built a 28 point lead less than nine minutes remaining.

The Blue Knights took advantage of their frequent trips to the free throw line, nailing 13-of-18, while the Cardinals only made five attempts.

Junghoon Roh hit three of his five attempts from outside the arc to lead the Cardinals with 11 points. Shavar Fields hit 10 points and also collected nine rebounds. John Perez and Shamoy McIntosh both finished with six points apiece.

Matt Curry scored a game-high 13 points for the Blue Knights, while Mike Hoy and Ryan Riefenhauser notched 12 points each.

The Cardinals will now move onto the postseason Tuesday when they travel to Cortland for the opening round of the SUNYAC tournament.
