Men's Basketball Falls on the Road

BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State men’s basketball team (8-16, 6-11 SUNYAC) fell to Brockport (12-12, 10-7 SUNYAC) 87-67 on the road in State University of New York Athletic Conference Action (SUNYAC) action Friday.
 
The Golden Eagles scored the first bucket of the game with 1:20 gone in the first half and never let go of the lead.
 
The first half was a tight affair and the Cardinals stayed within touching distance of the Golden Eagles throughout. A strong start to the second half broke the game open and the Cardinals could stay close.
 
The Cardinals suffered an off shooting night, 36.5 percent from the field, while the Golden remained consistent, shooting an even 50 percent.
 
Leading by as many as 26 in the second half, the Golden Eagles used four different double-digit scorers to take down the Cardinals in the penultimate regular season game.
 
John Perez was 5-of-11 from the floor, scoring 13 points and Anthony Baker came of the bench to go for 11 points. Baker was 5-for-5 from the free throw line. Ketema Brooks dished out five assists to continue to set the school record.
 
Kyheem Green hit 12 points for the Golden Eagles, while John Ivy, Jordan Major and Lance Legister all scored 10 points.
 
The Cardinals finish off the regular season on the road when they take on Geneseo tomorrow at 4 p.m.
