UTICA, N.Y. - Teal Gove scored twice as the Plattsburgh State women's hockey team skated to a 3-1 win at Utica in an Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) West game Sunday afternoon.

Gove opened the scoring with a power-play goal at 15:03 of the first period to give Plattsburgh a 1-0 lead. Alyssa Parke and Allison Era assisted on the Cardinal goal.

Utica (8-12-3, 5-9-2 ECAC West) retaliated at the 14:10 mark of the second period when Meghan Willet tallied her second of the year from Megan Myers and Lindsay Norton, tying the game at 1-1.

The Cardinals (17-5-2, 15-1-2 ECAC West) regained the lead when Justine Fisher found the back of the net with just 2:08 gone in the third period. Jordan Caldwell and Chelsea VanGlahn assisted on the game-winner. Gove added an insurance goal midway through the final period, giving her 17 on the year.

Plattsburgh outshot the Pioneers, 31-21. Sydney Aveson improves to 15-4-1 after making 20 saves for Plattsburgh. Jennifer Hamel stopped 28 shots in the loss for Utica.

Despite owning the top spot in the ECAC West standings at the close of the weekend, the Cardinals will have to wait until next weekend to make their postseason plans. RIT is currently second and three points behind Plattsburgh. The Tigers have two games remaining on their conference schedule, while Plattsburgh's only remaining regular season game is a non-conference game at Middlebury on Saturday at 4 p.m. If the Tigers sweep Cortland, RIT will reclaim the first seed and push Plattsburgh back to second place.
