CORTLAND, N.Y. – Samantha Engebrecht and Jessica Paquette of the Plattsburgh State women’s tennis team have been named to the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) All-Conference Second Team. The honors mark the first all-conference nods for the Cardinals since 2007.

Engebrecht and Paquette represented the first doubles pairing on the second team. The Cardinal pair finished the 2012 season with a 9-3 record, including a 4-2 record against SUNYAC opponents.

A Rochester, N.Y. native, Engebrecht enjoyed a standout sophomore season for the Cardinals. She earned her first all-conference honor in her second season at first doubles and posted a 4-4 record at second singles.

Paquette wraps up her four-year career with her first appearance on the All-SUNYAC team. The Enoburg Falls, Vt. native has competed at first doubles in the last three seasons. She also posted a 3-0 record at second singles, a 5-2 record at third singles and won the only match she played at second doubles. Paquette is a three-time Academic All-SUNYAC honoree and has appeared on the Commissioner’s List twice.

The Cardinal women’s tennis team had their best season since 2006, finishing the year with an 8-5 mark and finished fourth at the SUNYAC Tournament.
