BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State men’s basketball team (6-9, 4-5 SUNYAC) suffered a lopsided 110-68 loss to Buffalo State (13-3, 6-3) in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) action Saturday.
John Perez led the Cardinals with 12 points and seven rebounds. Junghoon Roh and Shavar Fields scored 10 points each.
Jake Simmons hit nine 3-pointers and scored 37 points for the Bengals. Simmons was 13-of-24 from the field, including 9 of 17 from long range.  Ahmed Nagaya added 17 points and 11 rebounds, and Nico McLean pitched in 11 points and five assists.
Buffalo State hit eight first half three-pointers, including six by Simmons, to take a 54-35 lead into the intermission, and the Bengals continued to pour it on in the second half.  Buffalo State set a school record with 15 3-pointers, shooting 60-percent from beyond the arc, and 58-percent from the floor.  The Cardinals shot 39-percent and hit 5-of-19 from long range.
 
The Cardinals return to the court Tuesday January 24, when they travel to Middlebury College for a 7.30 p.m. non-conference game.
