Williams' Double-Double Hoists Men's Basketball to Victory

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – Reggie Williams posted a double-double to lead the Plattsburgh State men’s basketball team (6-7, 4-3 SUNYAC) to a 71-54 home victory over SUNY Potsdam (4-9, 2-5 SUNYAC) in State University of New York Athletic Conference action.

The game was close at the break with the Cardinals leading 30-26, but the Bears came out strong after the half as they led by two points with 10:21 remaining in the game. Plattsburgh used a 25-8 run over nine minutes to blow the second half wide open.

The double-double marks the first of Williams’ career as he posted career-highs in both rebounds and points. Williams scored 12 points on 6-for-8 shooting, 11 rebounds and three blocks in the win. Shamoy McIntosh and John Perez both posted a team-high 16 points. McIntosh enjoying a strong second half, shooting 2-for-3 from three-point range and hitting eight of his 11 free throws.

Rob Duquette carried the Bears offense, scoring a game-high 23 points on 10-for-17 shooting. Tony Efese went 3-of-8 from the field for eight points and Brad Drysdale scored seven points going 3-for-9 from the field.

The Bears struggled from the free throw line, hitting only 46.7 percent of their attempts. The Cardinals enjoyed a consistent shooting night from the field, hitting 44.2 percent of their shots.

Plattsburgh returns to the court this weekend when they hit the road to face conference opponents Fredonia and Buffalo State.
