ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State men’s basketball team (5-7, 3-3 SUNYAC) used a strong second half to gain a 70-61 victory on the road over Oneonta State (1-11, 0-5 SUNYAC) in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) action Tuesday.
Junghoon Roh scored a career-high 19 points to lead the Cardinals past the Red Dragons. Roh hit five of Plattsburgh's nine three-pointers in the game and grabbed three rebounds in the win. Shavar Fields scored 15 points on 5-of-8 shooting as well as grabbing eight rebounds and Shamoy McIntosh added 13 points after shooting 3-for-5 from outside the arc. John Perez scored seven points and snatched a game-high 12 rebounds for the Cardinals as they out rebounded the Red Dragons 39-16.
The Red Dragons battled back from a 56-48 deficit with just over nine minutes to go in the contest to tie the score at 56 apiece with exactly four minutes left. The Cardinals scored 11 unanswered points over the next three minutes to put the game out of reach.
The Red Dragons also had three players reach double-digit scoring led by Dan Lee who scored 18 points on 5-of-8 shooting. Nick Sarchioto and Kevin Donahue backed Lee up with 12 and 11 points respectively. Sarchioto went 5-for-8 from the field and Donahue shot 4-for-10.
The Cardinals return to Memorial Hall Saturday Jan. 14 when they host SUNYAC foe Potsdam at 4 p.m.
